Testing and Validation Protocols for Commercial Refrigerator Production Batches

A commercial refrigerator may “power on” and still fail in the field. Batch quality is decided by protocol, not visual inspection. For export buyers, the question is: does the factory prove performance per batch, or just hope the sample represents the lot?

1、Type Test vs Routine Test vs Batch Release

  • Type test: engineering sample / first-article — pull-down, uniformity, defrost, energy, electrical safety
  • Routine test: every unit — insulation resistance, earth continuity, leak check, controller function
  • Batch validation: statistical check on the production lot — AQL sampling, serial-range traceability, test-record review

2、Core Batch Tests Buyers Should Request

  • Pull-down: ambient → setpoint with defined product load
  • Temperature uniformity: multi-probe (top/mid/bottom, front/near door/rear)
  • Recovery: after timed door openings + warm loading
  • Defrost validation: max temp rise, drain-out, rebound time
  • Refrigerant leak: pressure hold / trace method + sensitivity stated
  • Electrical safety: 500V insulation, hi-pot, PE continuity, current draw
  • Door/gasket: closure force, gasket compression, cold-air leak
  • Energy: ASHRAE 72 / AHRI 1200 / EN 16825 basis for ratings

3、Batch Acceptance Rules

Define before production:
  • lot size + serial range
  • sampling plan (e.g. ISO 2859-1, Ac 0 critical)
  • ambient class (25℃/60%RH, 30℃/75%RH, high-humidity store)
  • calibrated probe IDs + logging interval
  • pass/reject thresholds + deviation log
  • retention of test CSV/PDF for authority audit

4、Red Flags in Supplier Reports

  • “All OK” with no probe map
  • Only controller display temp recorded
  • No calibration date on instruments
  • Energy claim without standard edition
  • Mixed 220V/110V units treated as one lot
  • Golden sample changed but BOM not revised

5、Delaiwen Batch Protocol

For back-supplied cold rooms and prep refrigerators, Delaiwen runs incoming QC → foam/leak station → final 24h+ run → multi-zone logging → double-layer seal pressure check → cloud report with serial, voltage, refrigerant, MTR and FAT package. Every container gets a batch test summary, not a generic certificate.

Bottom Line

Testing and Validation Protocols for Commercial Refrigerator Production Batches separate real OEMs from box assemblers. If the factory cannot show probe locations, calibration status and lot-level pass criteria, the warranty you negotiated earlier is just paper.
